The month of March in Adelaide is called ‘Mad March‘ due to the incredible array of events going on. It is a magnificent time to visit with spectacular weather and something for everyone covering every taste.
For starters the Adelaide Fringe Festival (which started in February) is still going and everybody heads into the city’s east parklands and the Garden of Unearthly Delights with music, comedy, dance, circus, kids shows and so much of it free! Also every theatre and performance space in and around Adelaide is booked with performances happening all over the city. This of course leads into the Adelaide Festival of Arts (a bit more serious bit still amazing). Our Arts and Fringe Festival is considered one of the best in the world – second only to Edinburgh, Scotland!
Also in there is Writers’ Week. It has been held since 1960 and considered one of the world’s pre-eminent literary events, is a traditional part of the Adelaide Festival of Arts fortnight where attendees meet and discuss literature with Australian and international writers in “Meet the Author” sessions, readings and lectures. It is held in the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden and is free to the public.
Meanwhile in another part of the parklands (Adelaide is surrounded by them you know) WOMAD is going on. When Peter Gabriel first brought his WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) concept to Adelaide in 1992, the name WOMADelaide was coined and has become part of the local language.
If you think that is way too much culture then we also cater for the car racing enthusiasts too with the Clipsal 500. This takes over the east parklands (just near the Garden of Unearthly Delights). If you are concerned about the mix of ‘rev heads’ and ‘arty farty’ types – don’t be. For some reason it just works!
So, even if RealTime CEO didn’t have a huge number of speaking gigs this month, you can see that we were all busy enjoying our city during Mad March. Why don’t you come and join us next year?
"Our quarterly meetings continually provide us with the financial indicators we need to make the best decisions. The Fiscal Focus analysis provides my team with the information they need to do what is most important to the organization …. make money.
I especially like the “What If” tool because it shows me in real time the effects on ROI for the most critical decisions.
Thank you for helping us through this difficult economy. Without your help and guidance, I do not believe we would be as financially strong as we are."
